Beware of blip.tv!

The other day I uploaded the short film Hotel Chevalier to the Criticize This! blip.tv account. Within minutes my account was shutdown and removed (taking all the previous videos I had the rights to with it). I expected a warning first before my entire account would be closed!

I contacted blip.tv customer support. From the reply I received it appeared that they were going to look into the matter and resolve the issue. It's been two days with no response and my account is still gone. I have realized I will not be getting my account back and need to find a new solution.

It bothers me to think they can remove an account so fast with no explanation. I think we'll be looking for another video service for both Webnation and commandN as we can't take the risk.

UPDATE: The Shape of Days blog called me out on my post. No - I did not have the right to upload Hotel Chevalier (it is free on the web though and I was not profiting from it). Closing down my entire account without notice is still a little harsh. I do have the right to upload film clips, trailers, etc. which they could have easily thought I did not. Sites like Revver and YouTube will send notice and give you time to remove a video before shutting down your account (always read the TOS before using an online service).

SIRIUS Problem

I love my SIRIUS satellite radio. It helps me not freak out when I'm stuck in traffic with nowhere to go. Unfortunately, I can't listen to it - AGAIN! It seems that the folks who make the adapter to plug it into the car lighter don't know what they're doing. I have had two of these adapters fall apart on me (see photo), and although covered under warranty, it has totaled almost two months of me not having service I HAVE PAID FOR!

It's the same problem in both cases - I plug them in and leave them and in a couple of months the ends just fall off. If I was doing something to it at the time I would understand. This makes me wonder why SIRIUS can't figure out how to make a part that has been in existence since at least the 80's?! I also don't understand why they can't make a battery operated radio for the car (rechargeable of course) so I don't have to worry about all these wires.

My third adapter is on its way, but I'm curious to know if anyone else have this problem? Post a comment or drop me a line and let me know.

Reviews, reviews, reviews!

I have reviewed a lot of stuff the last couple of weeks over at Criticize This! (the latest addition to BAMCAT, Inc.). Along with Cate Jones (movies), Greg Hood-Morris (music), and Madclan (comics); we have new reviews posted daily.

Some of the things I have reviewed recently are the LG SuperBlu (Blu-Ray/HD-DVD combo player), the 300 HD-DVD, and the first episode of the new season of Weeds (which premieres tonight on Showtime). We also have reviews of the movie Sunshine, the new Spoon album, and the television show Chuck.

Drop us a line if there is something you would like to see us review, and make sure to subscribe to our feed over at criticizethis.net.

Are you a Change Agent?

Logo

Changents is a new site that connects people trying to make a difference in this world (or as they call them - Change Agents).

From the site:

Changents brings attitude, entertainment, community, good corporate citizen sponsors and results together in one place.

For a better explanation watch this video on their site. It's an interesting idea, and has a pretty slick looking site. I'll be watching what they do in the future.

The Michael Showalter Showalter

A friend at work just introduced me to the very funny online talk-show The Michael Showalter Showalter. I've been watching all the episodes, by far the funniest is the interview he did with Paul Rudd (who I think I have a thing for). The Andy Samberg interview is pretty damn good too.

GMail wants your videos

The folks over at GMail are working on an interesting project. They're making a video on how an email message travels and they want your submissions. Head on over to their behind-the-scenes site to see what you need to do to enter (you can also watch the promo video they have circulating below). All entries must be in by August 13th so act fast.

The R2-D2 Home Theater System

If I had an extra $3000 kicking around I would definitely pick up the R2-D2 Home Theater System from Hammacher Schlemmer. It would go nice with my $350 R2-D2 Wireless Web Cam.

YouTube On the Rise Rap Edition

As if Presidential debates weren't enough, now YouTube is looking for the next big rapper (along with 50 Cent) for the YouTube On the Rise contest. The  prize? $10,000 and a single produced by G-Unit. Nice.

Watch 50 Cent's intro video below, and remember, no Xerox MC's! Original beats only.

Big Time Shopping is Finally Here

Found this commercial for Monroeville Mall (where the original Dawn of the Dead takes place) and am fascinated with how bad it is.
