Spiral Beach is boss!

Made of Stone by Spiral Beach is currently my favourite song on the planet (the band is climbing my list fast too). Hopefully I'll be able to see them when they pass through Toronto next - from what I've been told these guys put on an amazing live show.

Check out the rad video for Made of Stone below.

Italian (not French) music goodness

UPDATE: For some reason I was lead to believe this was French. Desi pointed out in the comments it is actually Italian. Post has been changed to reflect this.

I don't usually listen to French Italian music (not speaking the language and all), but I'm really digging L'Aura (The Aura). Check out the video below for the track Non E' Una Favola (Google translates this to Fable is Not One). The video is very well done and the song has made me search for more of their music.

Thanks to commandN viewer Ben for the link.

Schaffer the Darklord - The Rappist

Schaffer the Darklord is an entertainer from New York who is actually a pretty funny guy. Some people say he's a Weird Al wannabe, but I think he has more potential. Check out the strange video for his catchy song The Rappist below.

Foo Fighters cover Arcade Fire

I'm quite surprised how well the Foo Fighters cover the Arcade Fire's Keep the Car Running. Sounds almost identical - and it's live! Watch the video below and let me know what you think.

Thanks to Andrew from Webnation for sending me the link.

The Return of Public Enemy

When I heard that all the music videos for Public Enemy were now online I got really excited. I've been a fan of PE since Fear of a Black Planet hit back in the day. Their new album - How You Sell Soul to a Soulless People Who Sold Their Soul??? has been playing in my car for the last two weeks, proving they still have what it takes to make great music. Check out the video for Harder Than You Think (the first single) below.

Ask a Pumpkin

To help promote the new Smashing Pumpkins album Zeitgest (check out the Criticize This! review today), the band did an interview via YouTube with all their fans. From the description on the video page:

An interview with the Smashing Pumpkins conducted by fans (from Italy to Kansas City) who grabbed a video camera and submitted their question via YouTube. The band sifted through over a hundred questions and now they respond to a few of their favorites!

This is one of the greatest ways I have seen a band (or actor, etc.) utilize the power of YouTube. I hope others follow in their steps. They also have many behind-the-scenes videos up on their official channel too.

Crispin Glover - Clowny Clown Clown

From the first time I saw him as George McFly in Back to the Future I knew Crispin Glover was a weird dude. His stunt on David Letterman and the fact that he sued Steven Spielberg (and won), pretty much made Glover a Hollywood outsider back in the day. To further isolate himself from the mainstream, Glover released the album The Big Problem Does Not Equal the Solution, The Solution Equals Let It Be - which included the song Clowny Clown Clown.

This is a great video for the very odd track Frontier Psychiatrist by The Avalanches.

VIDEO: Cut Chemist - Spat

This video for the Cut Chemist track Spat (off the album The Audience's Listening) is very cool. You might not have heard much of Cut Chemist yet (AKA Lucas MacFadden of Jurassic 5), but you will - one of his tracks is being used in a new iPod nano commercial.
