YouTube On the Rise Rap Edition

As if Presidential debates weren't enough, now YouTube is looking for the next big rapper (along with 50 Cent) for the YouTube On the Rise contest. The  prize? $10,000 and a single produced by G-Unit. Nice.

Watch 50 Cent's intro video below, and remember, no Xerox MC's! Original beats only.

The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show - Moon Mice

A big part of my childhood was spent watching The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show on Saturday mornings. This clip with the Moon Mice made me realize just how funny the show really was.

X-Women - the game that never was

X-Women was a planned sequel to the X-Men games for the SEGA Genesis (same format as the other games only with an all-female cast). According to Archive.org the game was dropped after SEGA started to concentrate on the SEGA Saturn game system.

Although the preview (embedded below) doesn't look that great, I believe it would have been the first game with an all-female cast (post a comment if I'm wrong).

Don't mess with a nerd!

Burning down a guys trailer because you got called a nerd on the Internet is pretty hardcore. That's exactly what Russell Tavares did though.

In a very Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back way, Russ drove 1300 miles from Virginia to Texas (taking photos of welcome signs along the way and posting them online) after being called names on a photo-sharing site. When he arrived in Texas he burned down John Anderson's (AKA Johnny Darkness) trailer, almost killing Mr. Anderson (who was inside the trailer at the time), and causing $50,000 in damage.

Tavares, a 27-year-old Navy man, got seven years in prison after pleading no contest to the fire last week.

Next time you're about to flame someone online, remember this story because you never know what they might do to you in real-life.

The Guild - A show for gamers by gamers!

Just found the new online show The Guild via a link on Pownce (six more invites for anyone who wants one). This is a show for gamers by gamers.

The first episode takes a look at how online gaming addiction can affect your life. Very funny stuff.

LSD - A Student Health Project

YouTube is great for finding random crap. Check out this video on LSD that was made for a school project. Makes me wish we had the technology we do now back when I was in school.

The King of Kong

I'm geeking out to the idea of the documentary The King of Kong. The premise is simple - two Donkey Kong champions compete for the title of World's Best. Lots of arcade footage from the 80's, mixed with a couple of eccentric dudes (Billy and Steve), and you have the formula for an interesting film.

In a year of health care and animal cruelty on the screen, it's nice to see a light-hearted documentary emerge with such enthusiasm.

Trailer below.

Paul Rudd in a cab with no pants

Paul Rudd (Knocked Up, Clueless) in the back of a cab, drinking beer, wearing no pants, and dishing on celebs he's slept with. All this for an interview with the new online talk show The Joe Buck Show. Very funny.

Mary Louise Parker's Ass

To promote season 3 of her hit show Weeds, Mary Louise Parker is baring it all and showing off her hot tush for a great ad campaign.

Weeds3ad_2

Weeds returns August 13th at 10:00PM on Showtime in the U.S. (Showcase in Canada). Also of note is that the Showtime website is now available to people living outside of the U.S. now (see my original post on not being able to view the site).

To see the full-length ad visit Egotastic!

The Joker Wants You!

Viral marketing for The Dark Knight (the next film in the Batman franchise) has officially kicked off with the launch of a recruiting web site for the Joker.

Supposedly there is one pixel on the site that will launch a photo of what Heath Ledger will look like as the new Joker in the film. I'm too impatient to hunt for a pixel so I Googled it and found this post on The Viral Garden which delves into the entire campaign for the film (due in theaters next summer).
